Biblical Sites
The Holy Land is the land promised by God to His Chosen People, according to the Bible, so many sites recall characters or locations depicted from the Bible. I usually take my clients to one or more of these three one-day tours: Jerusalem, the Judean Lowlands (Shfela) or the Northern Valleys (incl. Mount Gilboa). This list is non exhaustive of course and we can discuss other places of interest together.
Jerusalem
We will spend our morning in the City of David, which contains many remains of the Davidic dynasty and the First Temple era such as the Royal palace, Area G, Area E, the burnt room, the Canaanite tunnel and the Hezekiah tunnel. We will then walk to the Jewish Quarter through Dung Gate, to have a kosher lunch there. Then we see the walls that King Hezekiah built to protect the city, and visit the Ariel Center. Later we visit Ketef Hinnom to see how people buried their dead in this era.
Judean Lowlands
This region is full of archaeological sites and Bible stories. We need a vehicle for the day that you can either rent or that I can arrange for you. We start with Tel Beit-Shemesh, then continue to the Golan Garden for its statues inspired by the Bible. We will continue to Khirbet Qeyafa and then drive through the Valley of Elah to have a picnic in front of Tel Tzafit (Philistine Gath). Then continue to Tel Azekah and end the day with Tel Lachish.
Northern Valleys
Here also we will need a vehicle for the day. We will start with Megiddo, then drive to Tel Jezreel, and then down to Ein Jezreel. From there we drive up to Mount Gilboa to walk the Bible trail of Ketef Saul to see the panorama towards other Biblical sites from remote. Then continue to the end of Gilboa via Mount Barkan (panorama to Samaria Hills from there) and drive back to the valley to visit Ein Herod to tell the story of Gideon against the Midianites.
Sites Bibliques
La Terre Sainte est la terre promise par Dieu à son peuple élu, selon la Bible. Il y a donc bien entendu beaucoup de sites en terre d'Israël qui rappellent des personnages et des événements qui sont mentionnés dans la Bible. J'emmène généralement mes visiteurs dans un des trois circuits suivants, chacun pouvant se réaliser en une journée: Jérusalem, la Basse Judée (Shfela) ou la région des vallées du nord (incl. le Guilboa). Cette liste n'est évidemment pas exhaustive et nous pouvons donc affiner le circuit selon les souhaits.
Jérusalem
Nous passons la matinée dans la Cité de David qui contient nombre de détails relatifs à la dynastie davidique et à la période du Premier Temple tels que le palais royal, la zone G, la zone E, la maison brûlée, le tunnel canaéen et celui d'Hézékias.
Nous poursuivons ensuite avec le Quartier Juif où nous prendrons un déjeuner cachère sur place.
Nous nous arrêtons un moment devant la muraille d'Hézékias puis visitons le Centre Ariel. Pourfinir nous nous rendons aux sépultures du Ketef Hinnom pour savoir comment on enterrait les morts à l'époque biblique.
Basse Judée
Cette région regorge de sites archéologiques d'intérêt biblique. Nous commençons notre circuit avec Tel Beit-Shemesh, puis continuons avec le Jardin Golan pour ses statues inspirées de la Bible. Ensuite le site davidique récemment découvert de Khirbet Qeyafa, puis nous conduisons le long de la Vallée d'Elah pour un picnic en face de Tel Tzafit (Gath, la ville philistine de Goliath).
Dans l'après-midi, nous continuons au sommet de Tel Azekah et finissons notre journée sur le site important de Tel Lachish.
Un site optionnel consiste à conduire au sommet de Tel Tsorah pour le tombeau de Samson.
Les Vallées du nord
Nous utilisons un véhicule à la journée et commençons avec la visite du site de Méguido. Nous poursuivons avec celui de Tel Jezréel puis descendons à la source Ein Jezréel. Ces deux sites concernent l'histoire du roi Achab et de son épouse Jézébel.
De là nous conduisons au mont Guilboa pour le "sentier de la Bible" qui permet de donner un panorama sur la vallée en-dessous et raconter les récits bibliques du roi Saul et d'autres.
Nous poursuivons au mont Barkan pour son panorama sur la Samarie puis descendons à la source Ein Harod pour le récit du juge Gédéon contre les Midianites.
